General info
Lecce was first a Greek city, then a Roman town but is mostly famous for its lavish decorations on its facade. The local sandstone, tinged in a warm pink, is so easy to work with that it fostered the rise of a local style "barocco leccese", the local stone masons have left their mark on this city more then any architect. It is a short drive to the coast of 2 Seas: Adriatic and Ionian. Mild climate in winter. Historical town with 83'000 inhabitants, in the south-eastern part of the region 12 km from the sea, in the plane, 38 km south-east from Brindisi. All shops, restaurants etc. in the resort.
