For mountaineers and hikers, the original Engadine village is a true paradise, as it is the starting point of many delightful climbing tours and alpine hikes. Finally, the Piz Bernina, with an altitude of 4,049 meters, the only four-thousander of the Eastern Alps and other snow-capped peaks wait for their conquerors. If you dare to visit the mountain inn of the Diavolezza, the “beautiful devil” (2,978 meters), by foot or with the Diavolezza train – relax in the highest whirlpool in Europe and enjoy the high alpine glacier world and a dream panorama. A hike to the Pers glacier offers a sweet rest. Mountaineering beginners who are not yet confident in this difficult “chunk” can first complete a course in Pontresina in the largest mountaineering school in Switzerland.
