Innsbruck

Start your city tour in the centuries-old center of Innsbruck and see one of the most famous landmarks with the Golden Roof. Within a few minutes' walk, you can reach the Cathedral of St. James, the Imperial Palace with the Court Church, and some traditional inns through the pedestrian zones. Kitzbühel is a hidden gem for golfers, with four courses available! The Schwarzsee, one of the most beautiful bathing lakes in the Alps, offers a refreshing break. During a winter vacation in Kitzbühel, you follow in the footsteps of world-famous skiers who compete every year in the legendary Hahnenkamm race. Modern lifts provide access to 233 kilometers of slopes. Due to its prime location, Kitz Ski offers a snow guarantee for 200 days a year. Cross-country skiing, tobogganing, and winter hiking are other popular activities.

Ehrwald

Ehrwald welcomes you at 1,000 m with the unique panorama of the Zugspitze. Lush green meadows, dense forests, and the rugged rocks of the Wetterstein Mountains create a unique contrast. Climbing, hiking, and mountain biking are popular summer activities in the Ehrwald valley basin. A golf course invites you to perfect your swing. From Ehrwald, you can reach the dreamlike ski areas of Ehrwalder Alm, the Wetterstein lifts, and the Zugspitzplatt. 131 kilometers of trails make the Zugspitz Arena an Eldorado for fans of Nordic sports. It gets romantic with horse-drawn sleigh rides through the winter wonderland, when only the crunching of the snow and the snorting of the horses can be heard.

Seefeld in Tirol

The cultural highlights of the community include the parish church, the former Augustinian monastery, and the castle ruins of Schlossberg. However, Seefeld in Tirol is primarily the starting point for long hikes and bike tours through the nearby mountains. Excursions to the many lakes in the area, such as the Wildsee, are particularly recommended. From November, Seefeld transforms into a true paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. From the town center, you can quickly reach the ski lifts on foot or by ski bus, which take you to the nearby Alpine peaks. Seefeld is popular not only with skiers and snowboarders but also with cross-country skiers.

Fiss

In Fiss, you are spoiled by the sun: it smiles down from the sky for 2,000 hours a year. Perfect conditions to discover the winding alleys in the 600-year-old village center. The museum s'Paules and s'Seppls House tells of the old tradition of Fisser Blochziehen. In winter, you experience perfect slope conditions in Fiss. The place is part of the Serfaus Fiss Ladis ski network, which covers 214 kilometers of slopes and is one of the top family ski areas in Austria. From beginners to experts, everyone gets their money's worth. 30 kilometers of cross-country ski trails complete the fantastic winter sports offerings. The little ones love Berta's Kinderland.

Sankt Anton am Arlberg

St. Anton am Arlberg is considered the cradle of alpine skiing and the gateway to the large ski area around the Arlberg. From well-groomed ski slopes to cross-country trails or toboggan runs, there is a wide range of winter sports on offer. Summer guests can enjoy kilometers of hiking trails with magnificent mountain panoramas and typical mountain huts with Tyrolean specialties. A particularly beautiful destination is the Verwall adventure valley, which is located not far from the mountain village and offers a wide range of activities for the whole family. Whether action in the bike area or climbing in the high ropes course – boredom doesn't come easily here. Various power spots around the lake offer peace and relaxation.

Achenkirch am Achensee

During the warm season, Achenkirch at Lake Achensee attracts friends of water activities. The beach offers numerous sports and play opportunities. The adventure park with a high ropes course is the perfect place to prove balance and courage. Those who want to perfect their swing have the opportunity at the Achenkirch Golf Club. When the year comes to an end, the Christlum high alpine lifts start operating. They open up 27 kilometers of slopes of all difficulty levels. A children's world and the Christl Funpark with varied elements provide variety. Cross-country ski trails lead around the largest lake in Tyrol, which becomes a large ice skating rink in suitable weather.

Kufstein

From afar, you can spot the impressive Kufstein Fortress, perched on a hill above the town. Visit the powerful cannons of the Elisabeth Battery and explore the museums housed within the fortress. In the fortress's tavern, you can recharge in a historical setting. The world's largest open-air organ is also located at the fortress. At noon, a melody sounds from its 4,948 pipes. Experience what Kufstein once looked like in the Römerhofgasse. Many buildings in the narrow alley are adorned with colorful bay windows and vibrant paintings.

Achensee

Even in the height of summer, a dip in Lake Achensee is refreshing: the water warms up to a maximum of 22 degrees Celsius. This is due to its location at around 900 meters. At the shallow shore in the beach resorts of Pertisau and Achenkirch, you can enjoy splashing around. Well-maintained lawns invite you to relax. Lake Achensee is a perfect destination for an active holiday: due to the good visibility of up to 10 meters, it is a paradise for divers. Windsurfing, kitesurfing, and sailing are also fun in the Tyrolean mountain world. Nature lovers explore the holiday region by stand-up paddling or with a canoe.

Krimml Waterfall

The Krimml Waterfalls were formed during the Ice Age. They cascade down a height of 380 meters in three stages. Approximately 5.6 cubic meters of water roar into the valley every second. This natural wonder is fed by the Krimmler Ache. The glacial stream flows through 20 alpine pastures before reaching the waterfall at the valley's exit. The most beautiful viewpoints can be reached via the Krimml Waterfall Trail. From the parking lot, it is only a 15-minute walk to reach the first cascade. A serpentine path leads up into the Krimml Achental. On the 4 km long path, you overcome an elevation of 431 meters.

Stubai Glacier

Even the promising ride with the gondola to 2,000 m is an experience. After a short hike, you reach the Top of Tyrol viewing platform. In clear weather, 109 peaks over 3,000 meters can be seen. Families love the high-altitude mammoth playground, which revolves around the giants of prehistoric times. The ice grotto offers a cool down. From October to May, the ski area on the Stubai Glacier is open. There are 35 slopes ranging from easy to challenging to choose from. A sporting challenge is the 10 km descent from Wildspitz to the Mutterberg valley station. The Stubai Zoo snow park attracts freeriders from all over the world.

Zillertal Alps

Approximately 1,400 kilometers of hiking trails lead through the wild and romantic Zillertal. Family-friendly routes in the valley are available as well as challenging mountain tours in the High Mountain Nature Park Zillertal Alps. The Zillertal Cycle Path and the single trail at Isskogel are popular highlights for cyclists. The Zillertal Railway offers a relaxed journey through the holiday region. With 544 kilometers of slopes and 180 lifts, Zillertal is a paradise for skiers. The Ski and Glacier World Zillertal3000 offers year-round fun in the snow. A break can be enjoyed on the sun terrace at 3,250 meters. Cross-country skiers glide through the winter wonderland on 113 kilometers of trails. 48 kilometers of toboggan runs complete the winter sports offerings.

Zugspitze

On hiking trails of varying difficulty levels, you can explore the Zugspitze in the Wetterstein Mountains. From easy routes for beginners to the challenging Jubiläumsgrat, which should only be attempted by experienced climbers, everything is included. Along many routes, managed huts invite you to a cozy stop with Bavarian delicacies. It's more convenient to reach the Zugspitze with the Bavarian Zugspitz Railway, a cogwheel train that travels from Garmisch to the summit. From the Austrian Ehrwald, you can reach the summit with the Tyrolean Zugspitz Railway in panoramic cabins. At the top, a spectacular view over four countries and the Eastern Alps awaits you.

Tyrol - Climate

The climate you can expect in Tyrol depends on the holiday region: Due to the high alpine location of many places, Tyrol, with an average temperature of 13 degrees Celsius, is one of the coolest federal states in Austria. July is the friendliest month with eight hours of sunshine per day. In August, 14 rainy days are to be expected, with the least precipitation occurring in November. The most snow falls in January. For example, at the Nordkette near Innsbruck, it is 85 cm. With maximum values around 0 degrees Celsius, it is coldest in December and January.
