Day 1
Although Guéthary is considered the smallest village on the Basque coast, a stroll through the picturesque holiday resort reveals charming spots that can easily fill an entire vacation day. There's the small fishing harbor, where wooden fishing boats lie on a cobblestone ramp because all boats are pulled out of the sea after their outing. A cliff path leads up to the Chapelle Saint-Joseph, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of one of Europe's most popular surf spots, Parlementia. Strolling past red-and-white houses in Basque style, you reach the Musée Saraleguinea, which presents sculptures, ceramics, and paintings from old Guéthary in a neo-Basque villa with a park. In the afternoon, the square in front of the also neo-Basque town hall invites you to meet with locals. There, in front of the delicate facade adorned with red wooden elements, the traditional Basque ball game Pelota is played. Afterwards, trendy bars on the promenade invite you to a relaxing end of the day with tapas and wine.
