Enjoy a delicious cappuccino on the Piazza and admire the enchanting Baroque architecture. Your gaze falls on the statue of the poet Torquato Tasso, the great son of Sorrento. The church of Santa Maria del Carmine impresses with its artistic frescoes and stained glass windows. A proud 18th-century palace is the Palazzo Correale of the patrician family of the same name. From the Piazza, the lively Via San Cesareo branches off with its small craft shops and products of the famous Sorrentine lemons. A tourist train departs into the old town.

The location of the Museo Correale di Terranova alone is worth a visit. Surrounded by a lemon grove, the art museum resides in the Villa Fiorentino, which is an eye-catcher with its Belvedere terrace and blooming gardens. The staircase is open to the sea side. Inside the art museum, visitors can expect Neapolitan paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries. The collection also includes valuable porcelain, Murano glass art, and a clock collection. The pieces are exhibited by Pompeo and Alfredo Correale, the last descendants of the patrician family.
The extensive monastery was already built in the 14th century and was often elaborately expanded and restored in later eras. The vaulted structure is typical. The courtyard enchants you with a lush display of greenery and the decorated capitals. The Monastery of San Francesco is partially accessible to visitors, allowing you to walk through the medieval corridors yourself. A highlight is the music festival, which takes place every year in the summer and creates a unique atmosphere.
Sorrento has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers. In summer, daytime temperatures average 30°C, while at night it is slightly cooler with an average of 22°C. Summers in Sorrento are short and hot, while winters are rather long and humid. Nevertheless, you can expect 250 sunny days per year. In winter, it is still pleasantly mild with temperatures between 10 and 15°C. Closer to the coast, it is significantly cooler, and occasionally a fresh wind blows even in summer. In summer, you can enjoy swimming: water temperatures reach 21 to 26°C.
