Arosa ski area

Arosa is located in the Swiss canton of Graubünden and is part of the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area, which boasts 225 kilometers of slopes. Thanks to its sheltered location in the open Schanfigg valley basin, Arosa is very sunny. Prepared winter hiking trails run through the entire area. These trails are suitable for both pedestrians and skiers. A hiking highlight is the Ten Lakes Hike, which passes by idyllic mountain lakes with crystal-clear water. Worth seeing is the Arosa Bear Sanctuary, where bears find a new home.

Weisshorn

The Weisshorn is located in the municipality of Arosa in the Swiss region of Mittelbünden and, with its proud 2,653 meters, is the highest mountain in the ski area. In addition to various ascents to the summit, there is also the Arosa cable car. On the summit, there is a large summit restaurant. Furthermore, due to its wind conditions, it is a popular starting point for paragliders. In addition to various alpine hiking tours, there are numerous cross-country ski trails and slopes for snowboarders in winter.

Hörnli

The 1,133 m high Hörnli can be hiked on marked trails or explored by bike. A section of the Jakobsweg also leads to the scenic mountain. Once at the top, visitors are welcomed by a cozy mountain inn with regional specialties. Ambitious athletes enjoy the organized mountain run at Hörnli. Action-packed downhill rides are promised by the scooter fun. In winter, the Hörnli toboggan run offers a fast descent into the valley. Thus, the Hörnli offers enjoyable hours for young and old alike.

Arosa-Lenzerheide

The ski area Arosa-Lenzerheide has a total of around 225 kilometers of slopes. These are mostly distributed over slopes with easy and medium difficulty levels. Thus, nothing stands in the way of a winter sports holiday with the whole family. Some black slopes for experienced skiers complement the ski area. In addition to the groomed and therefore snow-secure slopes, extensive snowshoe hikes and sledding with children are really fun. A nice feature is the illuminated slopes for night skiing, which is an impressive experience, especially during a full moon.

Undersea

If you feel like cooling off during your vacation in Switzerland, the Untersee beach is the right place. The natural water invites you to swim. For the little ones, there is a heated children's pool. A kiosk takes care of culinary well-being. The Untersee in Arosa is located on many hiking trails. One of them is the 4-lake hike, which also leads to the Susee, Grüenseeli, and Alteinsee. Information boards at the outlets provide information about the respective bodies of water. The route is 15.5 km long.

Squirrel Path

The Squirrel Trail starts at Arosa and leads through a forest area to Maran. Over about 2 km, you can learn a lot about the rodents. Information boards provide fascinating insights into their way of life and test the knowledge imparted with child-friendly puzzles. For the easy family hike, you should pack nuts, as the squirrels are used to visitors and will eat from your hand. The birds have learned this feeding behavior from the rodents. They also come very close to you on the Squirrel Trail.

Büelenwald

In the Büelenwald near Davos, you can enjoy wonderful hiking in the summer. You need just under four hours for one route. Start in Davos-Platz and follow the path into the Dischma Valley. At the hamlet "In den Büelen," the Büelenwald begins, extending all the way to Teufi.

Schwellisee

The Schwellisee near Arosa in the canton of Graubünden is a real insider tip. In the crystal-clear water of the idyllic mountain lake, the peaks of the Arosa Dolomites are reflected. You can explore the Schwellisee on a hike from the middle station of the Arosa – Weisshorn cable car. A well-developed hiking trail runs all around.

Litzirüti

The idyllic hamlet of Litzirüti is located northeast of Arosa on the Chur – Arosa railway line. The station, inaugurated in 1914, stands out with its rustic chalet-style building. A toboggan run leads from Arosa to Litzirüti, winding through dense fir forests along the Plessur and offering a view of the Schiesshorn.

Pratsch Lakes

The Prätsch lakes are two mountain lakes near Arosa in the canton of Graubünden. The smaller Ober Prätschsee is particularly popular. It is located on the Schanfigger Höhenweg and can therefore be easily reached on foot or by bicycle. In summer, the Ober Prätschsee dries up, but you can swim in the Unter Prätschsee.

Day 1

After unpacking the suitcases, the first exploration tour through Arosa begins. A stroll through the town center with its many cozy houses in typical alpine style continues to the Obersee. The beautiful circular path along the shore is only 1.3 km long and is worthwhile in every season with its majestic mountain backdrop. In summer, rent a pedal boat for a tour on the lake with the whole family or look forward to a picnic in the green with specialties like regional mountain cheese. In winter, guests and locals meet on the frozen Obersee for a fun round of ice skating. Those who want to learn more about the history of the holiday resort in the Swiss canton of Graubünden can take a detour to the Schanfigger Heimatmuseum afterwards. The local history collection tells of local customs, crafts, and historical life in the region.

Day 2

On the second day in Arosa, it's off to the slopes in the winter season. The holiday resort is a popular winter sports destination and, with its combined ski area Arosa Lenzerheide, offers 225 kilometers of slopes. About half of them are of an easy difficulty level, making Arosa an attractive winter sports destination for beginners on skis or snowboards as well as for families. Special highlights include night skiing and full moon ski nights. There are also many opportunities in Arosa for sledding with children or for extended snowshoe hikes with kids and four-legged friends. Those who want to spend an active summer in Arosa can hop on a mountain bike. There are both leisurely routes for families and challenging crossroad trails through the rugged mountain landscape. The Hörnli Trail is popular. It is a trail specifically designated for mountain bikers, leading over about 7 km with many exciting curves from the Hörnli mountain station down to the valley station.

Day 3

The third day in Graubünden starts actively with a family trip to the Arosa Rope Park. On eight courses for kids and adults, you climb secured on ropes, sometimes on shaky suspension bridges and sometimes on adventurous foot loops from treetop to treetop. The afternoon is enjoyable for all ages at the Arosa Bear Sanctuary. This is a bear protection center for rescued bears. Marvel at the cute giants during a walk along the adventure trail in the form of floating suspension bridges connected by viewing platforms. Learn all sorts of interesting facts about the individual stories of the animal residents and then play a round of bear mini-golf. The animal theme continues with a short hike along the Arosa Squirrel Trail. This family-friendly themed hiking trail is accessible year-round. With its information boards over a length of 1.7 km, it offers many exciting facts about the cute animals. The chances of observing a squirrel up close are really good on the forest path.
