A interesting town situated approximately 14.5 km south of Gloucester on A419. Bristol 48 km. Cirencester 19 km. London 160 km. Station on Swindon - Cheltenham line. Stroud is set on steep hillsides by the River Frome at a point where five Cotswold valleys meet. It has been an important cloth-manufacturing town since early in 16c and the six mills surviving today still produce fine quality cloth. The annual Festival of Drama Music and Art takes place in October.
